Global Sourcing - A Brazilian Perspective (21193) - Prof. Dr. Moema Pereira Nunes

The course challenges you to think about the adoption of Global Sourcing by Brazilian Companies and the role of sourcing in the increasingly global economy. As such, you need to understand the context of Brazilian's firms and the country economy and regulations related with the sourcing opportunities and difficulties. The course presents theoretical and practical elements. The course includes a theoretical investigation of Global Sourcing in order to prepare the students to make analysis of Brazilian companies' decisions. The case of Brazilian companies are used in class as a way to understand how these companies are adopting Global Sourcing to assure competitiveness.

The course is taught using a combination of lectures, cases analysis and class discussion.

In-class case analysis will be schedule. The analysis will be conducted by student groups. Each group will be made up a number of students, and will work as a unit throughout the semester. Each group will present its summary, the proposed solution for the case, and then encourgage the class members to participate in critical discussion and debate on the topics. At the end of the discussion, the group will prepare a final proposal for the case dilemma.

Business Game: Open Innovation (21624) - Prof. Dr. Susanne Enke/Anastasiia Moskovets, M.Sc.                                                                                                                                                             

Global Innovation Challenge. Are you ready to innovate?

The seminar on “Business Game: Open Innovation” is open to all participants who are interested to take part in a global open innovation challenge. You will develop innovative solutions in order to advance the healthcare sector. Your task will be to: Find new innovations to improve the Patient's care pathway with newer technologies.

In order to take part in this project, you do not need experience in the healthcare sector. We will guide you along the innovative process and teach you creative techniques from around the world that will help you to develop solutions no matter what the specific field is. In detail, we will focus on how to be innovative with little resources and technical knowledge by using the method of design thinking.

Although the seminar gives credits only to master students in the BWL/Business Economics (86318 + 88318) and Management (86305 + 88305) and bachelor students in the BWL (82300), International Management (82301), and International Business and Economics (82322), the global innovation challenge itself is open to all students from the university – no matter what faculty, no matter what study program (Bachelor/Master). Prior knowledge is not required. If you are interested in being creative and coming up with innovative ideas in the field of the health care, please join us for the kick-off dates and compete in teams against business schools around the world. The Kick-Off meeting will take place on October 11th, 2016 for all participants. The attendance at the seminar sessions on Friday, October 14th, 2016 (all day seminar) and on Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 (all day seminar) is mandatory for all students.

The seminar on “Current Issues in International Management” is open to 22 participants who would like to explore recent topics in management research. Students being interested in participation are asked to apply by sending application form to Anastasiia Moskovets no later than October 7th, 2016. The Importance of National Culture in International Management (21622) - Prof. Dr. Susanne Enke/Angela Rother, M.Sc.

In this seminar you will learn about cultural differences throughout intercultural trainings and interactively reflecting on your experiences. 

The intercultural training sessions will take place as a blocked seminar on October 18 and 19  at Schloss Gollwitz. Expenses for the stay will be ca. € 30 per person. Each student will contribute to the training sessions by presenting a poster on a keyword related to a cross-cultural topic. In the course of the semester students will also write and present a seminar paper on a cross-cultural case study. 

Please fill in the application form and send it to Angela Rother (angela.rother@ovgu.de) no later than October 2. We will inform you about the admission to the class on October 4 and send you a keyword to prepare your poster presentation. The Kick-Off meeting will take place on October 11. It is mandatory to attend all seminar dates.

The Bachelor thesis seminar is required for all IBE, IM and BWL Bachelor students writing their theses at the department of International Management. In the first seminar session, we will provide you with a short general introduction to the guidelines for academic paper writing. All further sessions will be used for the presentations of the theses. Participation in all sessions is required.
