Note: Please note that the Chair of International Management is only supervising empirical Master theses which require participants to conduct a study and analyze the data gathered with the help of statistical data analysis methods.

 

Checklist: How to apply for Master thesis supervision

 1. Hand in complete application files

Submit your application to Angela Rother (G22E-113).

Any prior meeting to discuss thesis topics is not necessary.

2. Application files: Recent transcript of records and application form including a motivation letter              

The motivation letter should not exceed half a page and should address:

  • Courses attended at the chair of IM and the grades achieved
  • Existing knowledge about statistical data analysis methods (software expertise or statistics courses attended)
  • Reasons for choosing the chair of IM
  • Topic interests. You are free to develop your own thesis topics within the rage of the chair’s topics in research and teaching.

 

Kick-off meeting

For the kick-off meeting of the master thesis colloquium, the course participants are asked to prepare a brief presentation on the most preferred thesis topic proposing a potential thesis title, research question, and structure. Each student has about 5 minutes to convince the audience of his or her idea. After listening to all presentations and a short break, the supervisors will assign the thesis topics.
